LINE MANAGER: Chief Engineer - Staff Engineer
An exciting opportunity exists for a world class Daily Engineer Officer to join our newly created luxury travel brand “Explora Journeys”. The DEO is responsible for the daily maintenance and operations of the engineering and technical aspects of the vessel as directed by the Chief Engineer and Staff Engineer. To relieve the Staff Engineer if required.
1. By mutual arrangement with the Staff Engineer, to be on board the vessel at any time the StaffEngineer is absent from the ship.
2. Be directly responsible toward the Staff Engineer for each work performed in the Engine Romm and for the maintenance and conditions of the main Diesel Engine and Emergency Diesel Engine, in particular the pneumatic system, clutch system, main propeller shaft, simplex system and oil report, bildge separator, main fuel system and bunkering
3. During his watch he/she has to control the proper disposals of all refuse, rags etc. to avoid fire and othe hazards during and after work.
4.Inspect all assigned work in progress and on completion. Assure that man power is utilized to the fullest extent
5. To train personnel assigned to his engine watch (particularly new personnel) to follow safe working practices.
1. Fluent in oral and written English (working language of the Company)
2. Ability to speak, read and write in any other major European language is considered an advantagethat might influence the selection for this position.
3. Extensive experience with diverse Luxury/Premium hospitality venues in the dining operations;
4. Previous experience in Start Ups/Pre-openings is an advantage;
5. Excellent management and organizational skills;
6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
7. Passionate about hospitality and customer service driven.
Certification (including visas etc.) as required by STCW 95 regarding certification for this position and all documents in force at the time of employment to comply with the Flag State requirements of the ship.
