The Wiper provides general assistance to Engine Officers and Petty Officers in different tasks in the Engine Room, such as general maintenance and repair of the various machinery and equipment, material handling equipment throughout the ship including elevators and winches, general cleaning and painting of the engine room, trash pick-up, tools and instruments pick up and cleaning.
•Work always in accordance with acceptable standards, avoiding wastage of materials, and always respecting all injury prevention rules.
•Follow the daily instructions of the Foreman concerning methods and procedures for the maintenance and cleanliness of Engine spaces and machinery.
•He must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 Kg.
•He must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills.
•Intermediate oral and written English (working & Safety language of the Company).
•Previous work experience in a related field preferable.
All other certification (including visas etc.) required including Compliance with the requirements of STCW 95 regarding certification for this position and all documents in force at the time of his employment to comply with the Flag State requirements of the ship to which he is assigned.
