The Site coordinator at Crist & Gdynia Yard is responsible for inspecting the construction and outfitting of the related areas to ensure that construction phase is followed according to international regulation, ship’s contract and ship’s technical specification and builder standards. The Site Coordinator is controlling the quality of the materials used and highlighting any discrepancies within the approved project. Potential adjustments when minor technical issues are identified by the Site Coordinator during the construction phase, must be recorded and shared within the Site team and new building division as lesson learnt to be implemented on next projects.
- Ensuring that areas under the described disciplines (steel, paint, piping & HVAC) are built within the set timescale and in line with the approved architectural design, contractual requirements and functional requisites;
- Attending the daily inspection related to “steel & hull” and” safety insulation” ensuring that construction requirements are respected as guided by ship’s technical specification and yard builder standards.
- Attending the daily inspection related to “coating and painting” ensuring that coating process are respected as guided by ship’s technical specification and yard builder standards including the IP maker representative standards.
- Attending the daily inspection related to “HVAC and piping” ensuring that construction requirements are respected as guided by ship’s technical specification and yard builder standards.
- Ensuring that all materials used are compliant and in scope with the specifications and are of a suitable quality fit for its intended use, approved by class and relevant authorities;
- Following the installation and outfitting of all relevant areas maintaining accurate and up to date records of all activities and inspections;
- Attending project meetings with Yard representative and on behalf of the Site Office FR division and prepares related MOMS and progress reports;
- Highlighting relevant aspects of the approved design that can be improved for future constructions;
- Highlighting relevant aspects of the ship’s design that might jeopardise the functional requisites and must be improved for the current project or can be improved for future constructions by dealing directly with the SIte Office of Saint Nazaire and the New building department in UK;
• Fluency in English and Polish. Knowledge of Italian or French is a plus;
• A Degree relevant to shipbuilding or equivalent qualification or significant relevant experience is required, however no degree but proven experience in operations is also considered as validation for application;
• Substantial experience with delivering inspections of hull & steel, safety, painting, HVAC and piping applied on ship’s building and or refitting projects or onboard cruise vessels in operations;• Good knowledge of SOLAS, IACT47, VSP and Shipsan manuals (construction and operations);
• Experience in a leadership position might be beneficial;
• Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office (including Excel, MS Word, MS Project or equivalent and PowerPoint);
• Familiarity with Marine Rules and International Standards and Regulations;
• Ability to review new building specifications and drawings and to read and understand a variety of engineering drawings;
• Good analytical skills, attention to detail and a ‘can do’ attitude;
• Availability to work long hours under pressure and over the weekend when required.
