LINE MANAGER: Senior Director Maritime Support & Crisis Response
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Cruise Deck Officer to join our growing Maritime Support Centre. In this role you will join a crucial 24hr watch rota, supporting our global Cruise fleet (MSC Cruises & Explora Journeys), as well as supporting with Crisis Activation and Management activities.
• Acts as the first point of contact for the Fleet for General Assistance and Reports any Discrepancies between Shipboard Practice and Company Safety Policies
• Monitors the voyages of all vessels, including Itineraries, Arrival/Departure Schedules, Arrival/Departure Manoeuvres and Reacts to Pre-Determined Trigger Warnings of possible Unsafe Situations
• Monitors current and forecasted Weather Conditions
• Participate in Planning, Preparation and Conducting of Training for Colleagues from other Departments Composing part of the Emergency Group Ashore
• Monitors all equipment ensuring that the overview of vessels is available at all times, and communicates with relevant stakeholders in the case of equipment issues
• Follows a 24/7 rotational shift pattern, including nights, weekends and holidays
• Carries out shift specific and other assigned tasks (e.g. daily, weekly, monthly checks,) within the required time period and records all entries in the “Maritime Support Centre” logbook
• Conduct tests with all Communication Platforms to check Functionality and Report and Follow up any Non-Conformities
• Assist in the Planning and Participation of companywide drills, including the Preparation of after-Action Reports
• Experience sailing as 2nd Officer or higher on Cruise Ships
• Chief Officer Unlimited licence or higher
• Knowledge of Bridge systems such as NACOS/SAM Electronics, NAPA, etc
• Knowledge of SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC and ISM requirements
• Knowledge of FF/LSA systems for the shipboard
• Competency in: Decision making, Communication, Conflict Resolution and the Ability to Prioritise
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
• Fluent spoken and written English
