LINE MANAGER: Design Development Manager
The Architecture & Design department is responsible for the interior and exterior design development of vessels within the MSC Cruises New Building Programme, working in partnership with technical, marine, and naval architecture teams.
Reporting to the Design Development Manager, the Architect is responsible for leading the graphic works according to the interior and exterior design development of all vessels aligned to a single brand; MSC Cruises. The role will ensure that all guest (and crew) areas of vessels within the brand will be designed, developed, and outfitted in accordance with product and brand requirements whilst balancing schedules, quality, and cost. In this role, you will be required to follow the project from concept stage through to final delivery.
· Manages the drawing approval and shipyard deliverables following owner approval of the concept
· Leads the architectural and interior/exterior design value engineering process within projects, liaising with all stakeholders as required to ensure maximum value is obtained without compromising the architectural intent
· Ensures adoption of standard business processes related to project management, risk and issue management, document, and data management
· Supports the Director in Pre-Contract / R&D Activities as required and board presentations
· Work independently with supervision by a lead Architect, and able to thrive in a highly-collaborative, multi-disciplinary project team environment
· Responsible for the delivery of a wide variety of projects on time and within given budgets
· Perform other job-related functions as assigned
· Development and refinement of design concepts under the guidance of a Lead Designer
· Development of technical detailing· Incorporating/coordinating consultant work· Production drawings under the guidance of a Project Architect
· Language: English (fluent both written and spoken)
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture / interior design with focus on Ship / Yacht design preferred
· Demonstrable strong 2D and 3D drafting skills using AutoCAD / Rhino / Sketchup or similar
· Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Suite
· Fluent in communicating through multiple channels including presentations, reports, and documentation
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills
· A keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
· Eagerness to learn, receive feedback, and grow as a designer
· Availability to travel as when required
