As the Vice President of Business Development for Ports and Destinations, you will be responsible for driving the company’s port development strategy to support long-term growth. Your mission is to secure strategic agreements, concessions for cruise terminals or private destinations, and other key port development initiatives that enhance our global footprint.In this leadership role, you will leverage your expertise in maritime operations, port infrastructure, and stakeholder engagement to lead expansion projects, forge strategic partnerships, and improve the company’s port-related operations.
Strategic and Operational Leadership:
• You will execute and implement a global port development strategy that aligns with the company’s growth objectives. This includes identifying new port opportunities and assessing their feasibility based on passenger demographics and market trends.
Business Analysis and Planning:
• Your insights will contribute to feasibility studies that guide smart port development decisions. You will provide key business assumptions to the Finance Department, review business plans, collaborate with port, nautical, and shoreside activities teams, and offer input on legal documents.
Project Management:
• You will oversee the full lifecycle of port infrastructure projects, from initial planning and design to construction and operational readiness. Working closely with internal teams—including engineering, finance, and operations—you will ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Implementing strong project governance and risk management practices will be a key part of your role.
Stakeholder Engagement:
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with local governments, port authorities, and regulatory bodies will be essential. You will negotiate and secure agreements for port usage, including berthing rights, concessions, and revenue-sharing arrangements. Additionally, you will represent the company at industry forums, conferences, and public events to promote our brand and development initiatives.
Operational Excellence:
• You will work with operations teams to improve port efficiency, safety, and guest experience. By implementing best practices in port operations, you will ensure compliance with international maritime laws and environmental standards. Evaluating and optimising existing port partnerships and performance metrics will also be part of your responsibilities.
Education and Experience:
• A degree in Civil Engineering, Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• 10-15 years of experience in port development, maritime operations, or related fields, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role.
• A proven track record of managing large-scale infrastructure projects and navigating complex regulatory landscapes.
Skills and Competencies:
• Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to align port development with company objectives.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Deep understanding of global maritime regulations, industry trends, and emerging technologies.
• Ability to effectively manage diverse, cross-functional teams and external contractors.
• Expertise in building and maintaining relationships with government agencies, industry bodies, and community stakeholders.
Travel Requirements:
This role requires extensive travel to oversee port development projects, attend industry events, and manage global stakeholder relations.
