LINE MANAGER: Technical Supervisor
The General Purpose Technician oversees and maintains all the mechanical equipment throughout the Island.
• Consults daily with the Technical Supervisor concerning methods and procedures for the maintenance and upkeep of the mechanical equipment generally within and outside the technical areas.
• Proven ability into basic mechanical works as drilling, grinding, welding, use of workshop machineries. Any certification in posses is to be considered an advantage.
• Perform maintenance and repair, actively participate in any overhaul and repair work
• Carry out related works to be done, and on completion, that work is executed properly in accordance with acceptable standards and that no wastage of materials occurs
• Use of appropriate material adopted for maintenance, assuring required safety for his self and equipment
• Ensures correct disposal of garbage to comply with International, National and Company regulations;
• Co-operate to prepare requisitions and spare parts, submitting them to the Island Chief Engineer for approval
• Always operates with the full consideration for the comfort of Guests
• Daily and periodical inspections to carry out on running or stand-by machineries.
• Daily inspect and repair major island machinery as Diesel Generators, RO Plant, Incinerator, Garbage Compactor, WWTP, Fire and Potable Pumps, Irrigation System, etc.
• Detailed knowledge into marine Engines is an advantage.
• Respect and prevent for loss or damage any assigned tools or generic tools assigned to workshop or any other material.
• In accordance with Site daily operations or in case of particular/emergency situations, perform any other duty assigned by supervisor or Chief Engineer.
• Fluent in oral and written English. Knowledge of other Foreign language is a major advantage
• 5 years’ experience or a mix of experience and related education.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Physical integrity and ability to: stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear, taste or smell, lift and/or move up to 25 Kg., full ability of close vision close vision, distance vision
• Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• A recognized medical certification is required • HVAC certification preferred.
• EPA certification preferred for the handling of refrigerants or ability to get certified.
